Cannes 2014 Leftovers May 24, 2014

There was so much to tweet about this past week and a half that I had to save some updates for this end-of-festival blog post, so I wouldn’t have to clutter my Twitter feed with them. This is a quick guide to Main Competition film updates:

David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars: 73. New reviews from Peter Labuza, Stephanie Zacharek, Marie-Pierre Duhamel and Miriam Bale.

Atom Egoyan’s The Captive: 52. New quotes from Adam Woodward, Jonathan Romney, Blake Williams, Wesley Morris and Glenn Heath Jr.

Michel Hazanavicius’ The Search: 28. It’s a nine-review clean sweep. Nobody is defending this movie. See Guy Lodge, Peter Labuza, Wesley Morris and Manohla Dargis for varying degrees of hatred.

Naomi Kawase’s Still the Water: 54/100. The latest from Monica Delgado, Maggie Lee, Mike D’Angelo and Wesley Morris.

Tommy Lee Jones’ The Homesman: 53/100. Bad reviews from Keith Uhlich, Wesley Morris, Stephanie Zacharek and Manohla Dargis, but Glenn Heath Jr.’s fierce defense makes me curious.
