Having a Wild Weekend

1965

Having a Wild Weekend Poster
  • With its screenplay by the playwright David Nichols (“A Day in the Death of Joe Egg”), “Having a Wild Weekend” is as slyly subversive of the teen musical as Mr. Boorman’s next film, “Point Blank” (1967) would be of the gangster movie.

  • Boorman’s camera bounces on trampolines, dives into swimming pools and swings from ropes, yet the forlorn mood continually underlines the limitations of faddish larkiness. (What starts out like A Hard Day’s Night bloopers gradually morphs into an uncredited remake of L’Eclisse.)
