The Endless Summer

The Endless Summer Poster
  • Relaxed, jokey tone is fun in the first segment, then appalling as the second, as the surfing duo’s arrival in Dakar yields a jaw-dropping onslaught of casual racism. Another reminder of how this era’s sunny, groovy inclusiveness was based on some pretty repellent stuff, including acceptable images of Senegalese kids as spear-chucking savages. Otherwise, pretty much as chill as they come.
