True Believer September 16, 2017

Toronto is always the most taxing film festival for me to cover, and this year was no exception, though I think this is also the first year where I didn’t feel hopelessly overwhelmed with work. I didn’t have to set aside several dozen articles for later like usual. This has been a trend all year–Sundance, Cannes, all of it was less demanding for me than in previous years. And I don’t know what’s causing this.

On another note, I just wanted to be clear about where I stand on one thing. Don’t misinterpret my silence about Twin Peaks: The Return for skepticism. I was completely thunderstruck by the series. I even loved the parts that frustrated some true believers, like the Audrey and Charlie scenes.
